Germany | 7 July 1944 | Crew under 2Lt. William M. Milliken on first mission. Target Bernberg, Germany. Ship was targeted by fighters and flak over the target. Heavy damage to the waist and tail sent it falling out of control from 23,000 feet to approximately 1,000 feet, when it exploded. 2Lt Robert Darnell (co-pilot) was blown clear, and was sole survivor of the crew. |
