42-51115

This aircraft is often confused with 42-95115, which never flew with the 492nd. Research has proven that this number, 42-51115, was the one that did

This plane was brought into the 492nd from the replacement depot as part of the J for H trade with the 458th BG for PROJECT AZON. We do not know which plane it replaced but it was assigned to the 857th.

To our knowledge this aircraft was never given a nickname or had any nose art painted on it.

Transferred to 446th BG, 706 BS

On 30 Nov 44 it was hit by falling debris from another ship near Neunkirchen, Saarland, Germany. It limped to Chicourt, Lorraine, France, before going down.
