Beauvoir, France 12 May 1944 Hit by flak in the open bomb bay. The aircraft burst into flames. The results were caught on camera resulting in one of the more harrowing and well published photos on aerial combat in World War II. It was the 17th mission for the aircraft. It was being flown by the Robert Stockwell Crew.
