Shot down by flak 20 March 1945 while on a mission to bomb the oil refinery at Hemmingstedt & gun emplacements at Heligoland, Germany (445th BG Mission # 257). Crashed in the North Sea 3 miles northeast of Heligoland Island. All 12 crew were killed. MACR 13563.
