My father joined the ROTC at the University of Minnesota prior to the war, which allowed him to begin his military service as an officer. His older brother, Frank was a Captain in the Marines, his younger brother William was in the navy at Pearl Harbor. All survived. 5 years later, my father married and had 6 children.
