A 9 Year U.S. Air Force Veteran myself, I have always been enamored with finding any information on my Grandfather, MSgt Harold Loyd Blake's service while in the U.S. Army Air Corps/ U.S. Air Force. While serving during WWII, he was a Left Waist Gunner on a B-17, and was shot down on 17 August 1943, Mission #20 "Black Tuesday". Until he passed away in 1996, he only told me bits and pieces of his experience, and of being a POW. It wasn't until 2 years prior to his death, that he finally received his Purple Heart. I have always been so fascinated with his stories, to the point that they made me want to serve as well.
