An RAF Advanced Landing Ground used in 1943 with temporary runways and buildings, Woodchurch was handed to the Ninth Air Force in 1944, where it was the brief home of the 373rd Fighter Group. It was abandoned and dismantled in 1944-1945. . The present-day private grass airstrip is to the west of the Second World War North-South runway.
