Born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 16, 1916.
Graduated from University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana in 1938.
Drafted (i.e. "selectee") into the U.S. Army on April 1, 1941, at age 25 during the lend/lease program, prior to Pearl Harbor.
After completing his first combat tour of 25 missions, Capt. Dean O. Garvey remained in England and volunteered for behind the line missions for about a year.
Capt. Dean O. Garvey then volunteered for a second combat tour, and completed his 37th combat mission when the war ended in 1945.
Married January 15, 1948, to Martha Louraine Allen, who was known as "Jean Garvey".
Son Jim Garvey born 1951.
Son M. Dean Garvey, born 1954.
Moved to Redlands, California, in 1955, and was owner of "Garvey Motors", a Chrysler/Plymouth car dealership at 415 Orange St., Redlands, CA 92373, until his retirement in 1981.
Passed away June 24, 1992, in Redlands, California, at age 76.
