badly wounded, he stayed in hospital in The Netherlands before being sent to Stalag XVIIB in Austria. Repatriated on a Prisoner Exchange Program. NARA WWII POW records: "Returned to Military Control 22 September 1944." Got back to the US on hospital ship "Gripsholm".
