Colorado Springs, Colorado 20 October 2014 Glenn LeRoy Pierre passed away October 20, 2014 in Colorado Springs at the age of 95. Glenn was born on August 11, 1919 to Nicholas and Martha (nee Kuhrt) Pierre and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. Glenn was an intelligent, proud, and honorable man. He attended the University of Chicago on a gymnastics work study program, winning numerous medals in the Big Ten University's all-around competition and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was particularly proud to serve his country during World War II from 1941 to 1945, including 2 ½ continuous years in the Mediterranean Theater of War: North Africa, Sicily, Corsica, and Italy as an Army Air Corps Military Intelligence Officer, First Lieutenant. After the war he returned to Chicago, Illinois where he earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago. He worked as an executive in the Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 25 years, during which he raised a family in Arlington Heights, Illinois. He later worked in Denver for the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. Glenn retired to Santa Barbara, California in 1977 and then moved to Colorado Springs in 1996.
