Born on January 21, 1924 in Ridgefield to Joseph and Ida (Bottachari) Bellagamba, Silvio, known simply as "Si" to his friends, has lived most of his life in the town he loved. Always active in the community, "Si" served as chief of the Junior Fire Department at the age of fifteen. "Si" was appointed to the Motor Pool, which taxied soldiers and officers from the base in town and vice-versa. He was ultimately promoted to the Red Ball Express, the highest level of the Motor Pool. While stationed in England, "Si" had the distinction of transporting General and future U.S. President Dwight W. Eisenhower and his officers. "Si" returned to his hometown of Ridgefield and began working as a foreman for the Ridgefield Press. A position he held for thirty-five years. In the summer of 1948, "Si" attended a square dance at the Italian American Club in town, and it was there where he met his future bride, Barbara Sterling. They lived in Ridgefield for a few years before moving to Mount Kisco, NY. The couple started a family in Mount Kisco before moving back to Ridgefield ten years later where he founded RoBell Printing.
