Wing Cdr John Dowling, MBE, DFC, AFC trained on Course 11 at Falcon Field, starting on 10 August 1942 and graduating on 19 February 1943.
His Stearman instructor was Mr Burdette and his AT6 instructor was Mr McFadden.
John was then stationed back in England, piloting Lancaster bombers until the end of the War.
After the war his career moved into helicopters and he later wrote the official history of helicopters in the RAF: "RAF Helicopters: The First Twenty Years".
