Crashed

Ardennes Forest, Belgium 21 October 1944 Engine seized over the Ardennes and he was forced to try to crash land. His wingtip caught the ground in the attempt which caused his a/c to cartwheel shedding the wings but coming to rest right side up. Hagan was able to walk away with bumps, scrapes and some broken ribs. He was only 400 yards from the German lines. He was back flying by the end of the year.
