Robert Phillip Bergstrom
MilitaryOn 07 November 1941 Robert entered the service as a private in the Air Corps from Chanute Field, Illinois. He had four years of high school education, was single, without dependents and his civilian occupation was listed as: "Actors and actresses".
Robert is listed in the Mission DETROIT orders as the Co-pilot of CG-4A #42-46572, being towed by C-47 #42-100578 – "WAGS WAGON", Formation Position #09 – an 83rd TCS aircraft.
We have Flight Officer Bergstrom listed on the 437th TCG Special Orders #195, dated 27 December 1943. These were the orders generated at Pope Field (Fort Bragg, NC) for the first phase of movement by air and by rail of the 437th personnel to their eventual overseas deployment.
Robert was a member of the 437th TCG Association and was listed on their rosters as in the 85th TCS from 1972 until 2007.
