Military ROLL OF HONOUR

Killed in Action (KIA) 21 February 1944 in A/C 42-74679.

On the operational mission 21 February1944 in the Steinhader Lake area of Hanover, Germany, Lt. Von Holtzhausen helped to engage a formation of ME 109's. He and his element leader turned into 2 ME 109's with Lt. Von-Holtzhausen wide and to the right of his element leader in a left turn. The turn became so steep that the element leader lost sight of Lt. Von Holtzhausen. He was not seen after this. His element leader observed approximately 15 ME-109's in a gaggle above them, but did not believe the enemy aircraft were near enough to fire at Lt. Von Holtzhausen. No R/T was received by the group planes, Base or Wing controls. Status: Missing in Action (MIA) 21 February 1944. Recommended to be changed to P. D. after 21 February 1946.
