Robert H Schmidt
MilitaryThe aircraft pictured is "Funny Face" of the 833rd of the 486th. Aircraft crashed on May 17, 1944. Copilot, Frank McCreary was flying and encountered (per his diary) weather conditions that prevented the aircraft from being stopped within the available runway. No injuries but the aircraft was useable only for parts (you can see the rear turret has already been removed one day after the crash).
