2nd Lt. Irwin Litman was the Co-pilot of Crew 5 when they left Marrakesh, North Africa on a ferry flight to Cornwall, England aboard B24H (42-7733) "LAKI-NUKI" on 12 Dec 1943. Bad weather led to an attempt to land at Kerlin/Bastard a/f on the Brest Peninsula. They received severe damage from enemy flak. Pilots Ayrest and Litman managed to crash land wheels up at Preddannack, Cornwall. The aircraft caught fire and all 14 on board survived.
