B-17F #42-30732 'Pistol Packin Mama' landed short and lost the left landing gear on a local flight and was instructed to attempt a gear up landing at Alconbury. RTD. Shot down by fighters and crashed SSW of Erkner on a mission to the ball bearing plant at Erkner-Berlin on 6 Mar 1944 in B-17G #42-31553. Prisoner of War (POW).
