Shot down 19 May 1943 in B-17 #41-24624. Plane crashed into North Sea. Prisoner of War (POW). Earlier on Oct 25, 1942 A/C B-17F-30-BO #42-5059 crashed in sea off Baldy Point, Nova Scotia on ferrying flight from Gander to Prestwick. Aircraft extensively damaged and accident is listed as a ferry loss.
