Earlier on Oct 25, 1942 A/C B-17F-30-BO #42-5059 crashed in the sea off Baldy Point, Nova Scotia on ferrying flight from Gander to Prestwick. Aircraft was extensively damaged and accident is listed as a ferry loss.
