Object Number - UPL 19516 - This is a picture I took in St. Mary's, Nantwich, in 2012.
On local formation flight on 14 Jan 1944, P-47D #42-7925 spun in and crashed near Shrewbridge. Killed in Action (KIA)
There is a Memorial in St. Mary's Church, Nantwich to him and a website containing an investigation, photographs of the Memorial at the site of his crash and his tombstone. He is credited with staying with his plane in order to avoid crashing into the town of Nantwich.
