IMAGE1945, May 17: Letter to Operations V-Mail sent from Lieutenant Norman T Rosholt to Captain Clarke Kimball, Operations Officer of the 452nd Bomb Group, 17 May 1945. Transcription: 'Sirs, Regret to inform you that D'Amor was killed, Galusha was seriously injured and Enroughty is missing as of March 21st. Hoffman, Fuhr, Syvertsen, Hare, Collins and I are okay and here in France. Old 42-97977 is in a thousand pieces. Say Kimball, can you please check on our clothes and see if they are on the way home. Thanks a lot. In case you are wondering, we received three flak bursts directly under our ship and one on the waist which knocked out control cables, auto pilot, turn tabs and no 1 + 4 engines. Only made it to Holland. Best of luck and thanks a lot. Norman.'
