UPL 70991
IMAGEEarly version of DING HAO with smaller, plainer aircraft name. Squadron artist Will Louie posing painting third swastika on Jim Howard's aircraft which, based on claims for aircraft destroyed in Howard's autobiography "Roar of the Tiger", dates the photo to 4 or 5 Jan 1944. Jim Howard is in the cockpit. Zooming in, the serial number is barely readable. The squadron Mission Schedule shows Maj Howard did not fly this aircraft on 11 Jan 1944, his Medal of Honor mission. He flew AJ-X (43-6441) that day and on at least two other previous days.
