Bombs fall from a B-29 Superfortress of the 20th Air Force onto a dock in Kobe. Printed caption on reverse: '500 US B-29S DROP 3,000 TONS OF BOMBS ON KOBE, JAPANESE PORT AND INDUSTRIAL CITY. Incediary bombs drop towards the dock area of Kobe, Japan's sixth largest city, as Marianas- based US. B-29 Superfortresses blast a ten-mile (16KM) area extending along Osaka Bay June 1945. Targets for the 500 huge US bombers' 300 tons of incendiaries included the Imperial Governement Railway shops, the heavily industrialized area of Kobe steel works, and thousands of small war factories on the enemy home island of Honshu.'
