The nose art of a B-25 Mitchell known as "Mell's Airplane" of the 310th Bomb Group, 12th Air Force. Frank Dean has handwritten on reverse: 'B-25 380 Sd, 310 Grp. This plane had no name and was known as "Mells Airplane" because that was the name of the crew chief. We considered this our Squadron Insignia but it was never officially recognised. There was no official Squadron Insignia during WWII. Taken at Ghisonaccia, Corsica 1944.'
