Airmen were sent here to 'de-stress' after they had completed a number of combat flights. Here John had completed 25 missions by the time this photo was taken. He would go on to complete 30 total missions. He died in a C-47 plane crash during an instrument check training flight at Cook Inlet, Alaska in 1949 in the military.
