From Royal Oak, MI, Lt. William E. Buchanan enlisted in Detroit, MI, on 21 August 1942. Lt. Buchanan flew 74 missions with the 370th Fighter Squadron from 18 June 1944 through 7 December 1944, when he completed his combat tour of duty with the 359th Fighter Group.
