UPL 38448
IMAGELt. Robert V. Beaupre flew with the 368th Fighter Squadron from 23 January 1944 through 6 January 1945, when he was KIA on his 67th combat mission. Lt. Beaupre was one of our older 359th Fighter Group pilots, having joined 26 January 1944. On 30 April 1944 he crash landed a P-47 when the engine quit, breaking his right ankle in the accident. This caused him to be hospitalized for several months. On 22 August 1944 he returned to complete his tour, and had only twenty seven hours to go to finish. Lt. Beaupre was a native of Massachusetts where his widow, Mrs. Marion F. Beaupre, resided. He entered the service 28 October 1942, and was commissioned 30 August, 1943. He was awarded the air medal with seven clusters for exceptionally meritorious service in aerial flight over enemy occupied continental Europe.
