IMAGELt. Carl M. Anderson flew with the 368th Fighter Squadron, 359th Fighter Group, from 2 August 1944 through 21 November 1944 when the 359th flew an escort to Merseburg in inclement weather. Over 200 enemy planes were sighted and engaged on the flight, with Lt. Anderson crashing near Sonderhausen. He was a POW in Balaria and Mooseburg, Germany, until the end of the war.
