"Two Martin B-26 Marauders of the 9th Air force frame a flight of their sister ships returning from a mission along the French-German border in support of the U.S. Third Army. The medium bomber in upper foreground has operated in the ETO for some time, evidenced by the dark painted fuselage. Since this spring, Marauders have gone into combat unpainted to attain more speed.
