Lt. George S. "Stoney" Montgomery with P-47D "Lady Margaret". Montgomery trained in Coleman, Greenville, and Eagle Pass, Texas along with fellow 351st FS pilots Lt. Billy J. Murray, Lt. Walter E. Murphey, and Lt. John M. Nickelbur. Credited with 2.5 air victories by war's end, Montgomery shot down two enemy aircraft on March 14, 1945 flying his P-51D serial #44-14796 aircraft code YJ-G. Montgomery survived a mid-air collision with Lt. Edward Risk on April 16, 1945 in this plane. Unfortunately, Risk was killed in the accident.
