Buffalo Mark I, AS426, at the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment, Boscombe Down, Wiltshire. This aircraft was one of 33 ex-Belgian Model 339Bs purchased by the British Government, following the fall of Belgium. A few examples served briefly with No. 71 Squadron RAF, but all were eventually transferred to the Fleet Air Arm. Brewster Buffalo's were briefly assigned to 71 Eagle Sqn RAF and rumored to have been damaged deliberately by the pilots on instruction from their leader, in order that more suitable replacement aircraft be sent to replace them.
