The burial of Lt Ewart Sconiers at the Lubin municipal cemetery on 27 January 1944. Officiating on the left is "Padre Mac", Murdo Ewen Macdonald (Scottish Chaplain of the 1st Parachute Brigade, captured in North Africa in November 1942). The men standing near the coffin are, from left to right 1st Lt. Milton M. Stenstrom, Col. Delmar T. Spivey and Lt. Col. Albert P. Clark. Maj. Clermont E. Wheeler stands to the right of Clark and is barely visible in this photo. All, like Padre Macdonald, were interned at Stalag Luft 3. The four photos of the funeral in this series were reproduced in the book "Clipped Wings", published in 1948 by O. M. Chiesel and Richard W. Kimball (himself a Stalag Luft 3 prisoner). The original pictures are held by the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado.
