~ 2Lt Erwin J. Bevins ~ B-24 Co-pilot of #42-7554 "Tail End Charlie". ~ Was able to bail out after his B-24 came under attack by German fighters severly damaging the ACFT which crashed into a cemetery in Mirns, Netherlands on 22 DEC 1943. ~ Bevins and 2 other aircrew members survived ~ 7 airmen perished. Bevins evaded capture with the help of Dutch resistance groups for 473 day. ~ The other 2 surviving crew members, S/Sgt Harry L. Henry & 2Lt Joseph F. Gill were capture by German/Nazi's and sent to POW camps until end of the war.
