[stamp] and '325138.' [Censor no.] Printed caption on reverse: 'THEY ATTACKED FRENCH BEACHES TO CLEAR WAY FOR ALLIED LANDING. A Ninth Air Force bomber base. Marauder bombers of the US Strategical Air Force bombed objectives on the beach in front of the landing ground forces and objectives behind the beacon to disrupt German lines of communications and supplies. Crossing the channel the B-26s crews reported they saw the destroyers, battleships and landing craft and the red flashes of fire from the guns of the destroyers. One returning Marauder crewman reported: "I saw the flashes etc., it was a grand seat at the biggest show the world has ever had."
