Detailed History
Second Lieutenant Robert D Couture of the 355th Fighter Group Crashed his P-51 Mustang (serial number 43-6895) at Vichères on 7 June 1944, during a strafing mission in support of D-Day. He Survived the crash and escaped capture with the assistance of the French Underground.
