He retired from the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Della Jane Ventress Porter of Hendersonville; daughter, Donna Miles of Hendersonville; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brother, Jimmy Porter of Indianapolis, Ind. He was preceded in death by two sons, William A. and Barry L. Porter. Visitation will be 4 p.m., until 8 p.m., Saturday, October 21, 2006,
