Military ROLL OF HONOUR

KIS, While transferring from the 8th AAF to the 12th AAF, plane caught on fire and went down in the sea. The B-17 #42-2969 immediately burst into flames. Some crew members were seen in the water and many planes circled over the crew members until the ASR units arrived (almost 6 hours). Brigadier General Asa North Duncan (8th AF Chief of Staff) was aboard this plane. The pilot was Major J. M. Knox, the squadron commander.
