Virgil P Kirkham
Military ROLL OF HONOURVigril Kirkham served as a pilot with the 362nd Fighter Group in Europe. He flew 82 missions before he was killed flying a mission on 30 April 1945.
A 14 year-old Czech girl, Zdenka Sladkova, was so impressed by the young American’s sacrifice to liberate her country that she has tended a small memorial at the site where he crashed for 70 years.
