Fresno, CA | 7 December 2013 | Dave was born in 1922 in Grant, Nebraska and passed away December 7, 2013 in Fresno. He attended Doane College until joining the Army Air Corps in 1940 and was later stationed at Fresno Army Base (Hammer Field) on guard duty during the Pearl Harbor attack. As a “Flying Sergeant” during his pilot training in 1942, he later was commissioned and flew photo reconnaissance missions in P-38's and Spitfires in the European and Pacific Theaters. After the war he remained in the USAF active reserves until 1982 and achieved the rank of Lt Colonel. He married Patricia Schelling and celebrated 64 years of marriage until her death in 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents Ford and Edith Davidson, his sister Althea Birchall and his daughter in law, Nancy Davidson. He is survived by his brother, Hugh Davidson. He has two sons, Steve and Mark Davidson and daughter Cindy Kyle, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Several nieces nephews and cousins also survive. Dave was a charter member of Fresno Sunrise Rotary Club of Fresno, a Paul Harris Fellow recipient and Rotary International Mission of Mercy participant providing much needed medical supplies to Eastern Europe. He also was a member of the aviator group Quiet Birdmen and formerly an avid tennis and golfer. Services will be held at Easterby Presbyterian Church, 5136 E. Belmont Ave, Fresno on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. |
