Fighter pilot in P-38s and P-51s. Also served in Korea with the 5th AF flying F-80s and F-86s. Total flying hours at retirement was 29,750+. 3 March 1944 on first mission to Berlin was one of first P-38 pilots to fly over wartime Berlin. Mission was scrubbed due to poor weather but his group missed the recall. His group of 16 P-38's under Col. Jack Jenkins continued on to Berlin.
