Robert Wilbert Buchholz

Assigned to 414BS, 97BG, 8AF USAAF. John Cunningham crew. Crew member onboard B-17G (serial # 42-97531) that was completing a bombing mission near Most, Czechoslovakia. He was shot down. Robert was hiding in a cemetery near Osek and the police captured him and shot him there on July 21, 1944. He was buried outside the cemetery in Osek. Four years later, his body was flown back to the US and he was reinterred in Wisconsin.
