Shot down 13 April 1945 in B-17 #44-8636, Prisoner of War (POW). Bombs from one of our planes in the formation exploded in mid-air after release and damaged this aircraft.

Fifty seven years later - at the age of 83 - Sanford repeated his parachute jump north of his home town Dallas; this time with his family as audience and a tandem instructor.
