MilitaryOn 30 Nov 1943 the B-17F "Liberty Belle" (#42-30096) crashed 1/2 mile west of Penlan Hall, Wakes Colne, Essex near Colchester, England. RTD He suffered a broken leg and burns on his face and hands, was hospitalized for six months and convalesced for another year. He stayed on in the Air Force retiring in September 1968.
Crash landed on cancelled mission 30 October 1943 in B-17F "Pregnant Portia" (#42-30263). RTD
