8 March 1945 Completed a tour with the 100th. Received DFC for saving his plane. he perched on a narrow beam 15,000 feet over Germany and ratcheted shut a B-17's bomb doors and averted disaster. He did this with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. this experience happened in Nov of 1944
