Flew 14 missions in 17 days, 35 missions in 14 weeks. Flew 'Royal Flush' for 25 missions. It was only plane of 14 to return from Munster (October 1943). Finished 25 July 1944 at St. Lo. 'Royal Flush' was shot down near Paris 11 August 1944. Ray afterwards returned to the CB&Q Railroad as an engineer and also farmed for many years.

After finishing his tour Ray worked in engineering then back to the States as a B-17 transition instructor for six months.
