McPherson national cemetery, Maxwell, Neb., for T.SGT. Ray D. (Tim) Bringle, former Elkhart High school football star who was killed in action during a World War II bombing mission over Munich in July, 1944. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. William M. Bringle, 621 Middlebury st., have been notified of the time set for the service, which members of the family plan to attend. Word had been received previously from the Army Graves Registration service that remains of members of the bombing crew were being sent to the national cemetery. Sgt. near Brussels, Belgium 13 July 1944 TIM BRINGLE, FORMER FOOTBALL STAR, LISTED OFFICIALLY AS DEAD That their son, Tech. Sgt. Ray D. (Tim) Bringle, was officially declared dead 12 months after he was reported missing in action over Germany, was the word that Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Bringle, 621 Middlebury, received Wednesday. He had been reported missing since a flight over Germany July 13, 1944. FORMER EHS STAR Sgt. Bringle, a flight engineer and top turret gunner on a Flying Fortress of the Eighth Air force, was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf clusters during his 3 months in combat. He had been in service since February, 1941. Sgt. Bringle, who was born Feb. 8, 1919, at Brook, Ind., attended Middlebury and Roosevelt grade schools. He graduated from Elkhart High school in 1937. He was an outstanding player in high school football and basketball, and won all-state recognition as a half-back on the 1936 EHS co-championship football team. The 1936-1937 EHS basketball team, which he was a member , won the East division title. He also won pole vaulting honors in track. AN END AT I.U. At Indiana university he was a member of the varsity football team. he was affiliated with Delta Upsilon social fraternity at the school, which he attended for 2 1/2 years. Sgt. Bringle was employed at Adams-Westlake Co. until his enlistment. He trained at Randolph field, Tex., Gardner field, Inglewood, Calif., and Las Vegas, Nev., before going overseas. His brother, Sgt. William Bringle, is in the army Air Force at Rosaire, France. A sister Doris, is living in Los Angeles, Calif.
