Albuquerque, New Mexico 2 May 2014 Peter Tras Jr. was born on May 7, 1919 and passed away on May 2, 2014. Pete was the son of Helen and Peter Tras, Greek immigrants who settled in the small upstate New York town of Endicott. Pete attended Bucknell University until the outbreak of World War II. Pete was drafted into the Army Air Corps and saw combat duty in the European theatre as well as being a flight instructor during the war. During this time he married his childhood sweetheart, Christine Kapetaneas also of Endicott. They were married for 60 years. Pete and Chris traveled and lived throughout the United States while Pete was in military service. Pete's last assignment was in El Paso, Texas where he moved Chris and their young son. Pete started his career in insurance sales at this time and was one of the founding agents of the general office for New York Life Ins. Co. in West Texas. In 1957 the family now with two more children moved up the Rio Grande Valley to Albuquerque where Pete continued his career with New York Life. Pete was honored by the company for 50 years of service. Pete and Chris were an active couple and split their time between raising the family, participating actively in their church, and for Pete continuing his great love of sport primarily handball, tennis and golf. Pete and Chris were avid supporters of Lobo Basketball and bought and held on to tickets at the Pit when it first opened.
