Hoppin Pawleys Island Peter "Pete" Charles Gilbert Hoppin age 92, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center. Born in Staten Island, NY, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Edith Hoppin. Pete was a retired U. S. Air Force veteran and retired Civil Service contract negotiator. He flew combat in WWII and the Korean War. Pete flew with the 446th during WWII, flying B24's. Later he flew B52's with the Strategic Air Command group. He was a member of All Saints Parish.
