MilitaryShot down 2/25/44 crashed into channel picked up later by British Air & Sea Rescue. On another mission, engine went out, lost oil pressure, ordered return to base, could not land, wheels wouldn't come down. Flew out over North Sea, dropped bombs and ball turret and belly landed at base Purple Heart was finally awarded April of 2000 for 2/25/44 mission. Plane was 'Torchy 3rd' #42-30487
